This thermos must be toxic. The plastic smells 1000 times worse than any other plastic product I encountered. It smells almost like kerosene and it affected my asthma and gave me a pounding headache. Like an idiot I tried washing it which didn't help knowing that I would never drink from this anyway. My daughter told me to get it out of the house it's making her sick. BEWARE - IT IS MADE IN CHINA and we all know how concered for public health they are.

This thing must have been manufactured from old gas cans, the stink was similar to kerosene. Nothing I tried could remove the smell. I contacted the Wagan Co. and was told by customer support that his problem was unheard of. They did agree to take it back if Amazon did not. At least I got most of my money back.

A complete piece of garbage. Your coffee or tea will stink and taste of plastic even after some use. This one burned out after 8 weeks. Don't waste your money.
Reeked of Gasoline Upon Arrival July 4, 2010

For some reason the power cord for this thing REEKS of gasoline (or solvent or something) and as it was inside the mug upon arrival, it took a LOT of cleaning to make this otherwise acceptable travel mug useful. That made it VERY disappointing as a gift, so I wouldn't recommend that you buy this.
